Hello fellow kitchen design enthusiasts

Hello

My name is Vivian and I love beautiful things! Beautiful homes, antiques, artwork.Well you get the picture.

I began reading blogs a few years ago, starting with the famous Joni Webb and her blog “Cote’ De Texas”.  I was hooked! So here is my attempt to share my thoughts and passions. Be patient with me.

A lot has happened this past year. We moved to our new home in La Quinta ,California. It has been a very interesting move for me.We previously lived in a 1929 Mediterranean style home in Portland Or.Now we live in a brand new Spanish style home in California.

I didn’t mention it yet but I am an interior designer, specializing in kitchen remodels.I don’t know what it is but I just love designing kitchens. I could go on for hours talking kitchens, but I will spare you. Needless to say even though the kitchen in our new home was brand new it just didn’t feel right. So after pleading with my husband he finally realized maybe I was right and we remodeled. So here is my first attempt to show before and after pictures of my kitchen in Portland,Or and my new kitchen in La Quinta Ca. PS The picture on my header is not my home ( I wish it were) just a fantasy.

Cheers

This is my original kitchen in Portland Or. Notice the 1929 sink and the 18″ counter depth!!

I tried to make it as charming as I could

A view from the other direction.I found the antique butcher block at a Texas antique fair and built the kitchen around it.

Standard builder cabinets and this very bulky hood. A very odd shaped island.

I removed all the upper cabinets and put in open shelving.Removed the island completely and had it rebuilt. The back wall is french limestone and the counter-tops are marble.
